Alright, so it's totally horrible to take this all into this particular perspective, but I'm gonna do it anyways.
In our school, let's say we have four main groups. The jocks, or just people interested in sports and the outdorrs; the preps or popular people, interested in fashion and beauty and gossip and all of the shows like American Idol, One Tree Hill, etc, etc; the music kids, who we already appeal to (somewhat) and the 'outcasts', meaning the geeks and the freaks (myself included) that have made SYR a way to get away from bullies, etc...
Out of those groups, the preps, jocks, and music people take up over half of our population, leaving the 'outcasts' (I really want to say goonies) with about 30%, neverminding that each of these groups intersects one another... Anyways. Keeping it with definite boundaries;
There's about half of our entire school that we're not appealing to. We already appeal to said goonies and some of the music people, but there's still everyone else that couldn't care less. So that means we have to start getting stuff out there that other people are interested in. Movies, reality TV shows, make up and fashion updates, as well as sports recaps and player...information? Sure. Why not.
A couple ideas /I've/ had about this mainly involve TV..like...
i) once American Idol restarts, do recaps and put information on who got kicked off and who stayed, judges comments, etc.
ii) If there's a big game on, find out the scores and highlights and recap that in case someone missed it.
iii) maybe have some of those debates over players, like in Rocky 6, where they put one player against the other and have a discussion on who would win in a face off or something
iv) Read through some magazines and find some of the new fashion/beauty tips and make a show about that
v) put up a 'hit list' of songs, like, popular not creative commons ones and make little videos to go with them (so they're parodies?)
And if anybody else has a criticism, a comment, or an addition to make, uh...post it up here?
Shor. Let's all do that. :'D
